The Braithwaite House is going great guns, and we couldn’t be more pleased!  We’ve located some wonderful accessories that will accent our patti meltz.  New fragrances are being tested, (little yawn).

Chisum Trail has expanded its horizons by a part of “shop it” a wonderful social shopping network.

My delima? What to do first – the UFO Festival will be here before you know it, “alien sudz” need to be made, not to mention the signature fragrance we’ve choosen for this years festival, then there’s the candles, the patti meltz, and wickless flames.

Chisum Trail has several vintage items that need pictures taken, description written for them and listed at both ecrater and shop it -

I need two more sets of hands and about 10 extra hours to each day – anyone have any extra time they can give me? Dawn

Now that we have The Braithwaite House, up and our sample service is available, we thought it was time to turn our attention to Chisum Trail Mercantile.  We have decided to make Chisum Trail Mercantile a stand alone store instead of just a category under The Braithwaite House.

Chisum Trail Mercantile offers a variety of vintage french black and white postcards, vintage beaded purses, and classic jewelry pieces from the 1950’s.  However, our sewing patterns are our pride and joy.  We offer a wonderful selection of sewing patterns from the 1930’s and 1940’s.  What a joy those were to purchase.  We hope to continue to add to our vintage finds with unique collectible items.

roswell-stargate-logo.JPG Roswell Stargate has been busy, creating, testing and testing some more.  July is on its way and we need to have things all in order for our “earthling” visitors.  We have created two new fragrances for this year’s Roswell UFO Fesitval – MIB and Martian Sugar Cookie.  The alien soap “sudz” has been a big hit so far, and so has our “crash” fragrance.  Lots, and lots more work to do yet -

Well after much trail and error, we have finally created a form that will allow our customers to sample our fragrances.  We debated on how to do this – the internet is a wonderful place – but you can’t “sniff” and at The Braithwaite House “sniffing” is a must!  Soooo, if you too need to “sniff” one of our fragrances, fill out the sample form and a sample melt will be mailed to you at no charge.  Stop in and see us www.thebraithwaitehouse.com – Dawn

Well, we’ve finally managed to create the fragrance that will be named “Muncaster Castle” – a nice fragrance of light flowers and a touch of leather.  Can’t wait to try this one in our wickless flames and patti meltz.

The Pennington Family & Muncaster Castle

As we continued our quest for more of our “family ancestors”, it became clear that our family was not only related to the “Braithwaite’s” of England but also to the “Pennington’s” of England.   The Pennington family has resided in the Muncaster Castle since the 1200’s.
Muncaster Castle is located near Ravenglass in Cumbria.  Three generations of Pennington’s currently reside in Muncaster Castle today. Daily tours of the Castle are available.  The proceeds from these tours help with the up keep of this family landmark. Archeological work that is being done at Muncaster Castle suggests that it may have been the location for a large Roman fort.  I think our next endeavor at the Braithwaite House will be to find a soy candle fragrance that pays tribute to our Pennington Family.

The Braithwaite House

Ever wondered how some people come up with the names for their businesses? The Braithwaite House comes from our family ancestors. After some extensive research (years of research and several notebooks later), we have found that our family line comes from England and parts of Germany. They migrated to Virginia. I am pleased to say that I am a decendant of the Braithwaite and Pennington families. Our Braithwaite House business is comprised of family members. Take a tour through our fragrance list and you’ll find some of the names of our ancestors as well as the names of their homesteads, businesses and nicknames. It was our decision to use these names as a tribute to ancestors and the heritage they have left us. We’re still developing and creating our website. But we’d still love to have you stop in -www.thebraithwaitehouse.com – questions? proprietor@thebraithwaitehouse.com
